People are visual by nature, so proper use of color is one of the most highly effective ways to influence people to act. From the customers’ point of view, at first glance, color may be THE simplest, but most important part of your brand; the look and feel of your business.

Branding is considered to be a “soft skill” and often not taken seriously by business leaders oriented toward action and the bottom line. Certainly you would agree that based on the look and feel of many businesses you have seen, branding is best left to the professionals. And yes, you really do get what you pay for.

It takes a long time to figure out how to use colors and design properly. It’s an acquired skill for most people. Colors and design not only express the culture of your business, but have a huge influence on how visitors and customers feel when interacting with your business.

HubSpot published a study on the psychology of colors in branding. For example, they tested two simple Call-To-Action (CTA) buttons; one red and one green. The red one outperformed the green one by 21 percent. No other changes were made.

This info graphic from Iconic Fox is based on studies into the effects of colors on consumers. Some colors stimulate appetite, others impart a feeling of wealth, power and luxury. Still others are associated and some are associated with “cheap”, while others are associated with stability and growth.

Take a look.
